A collection of Hunt Genealogical research papers, essays and other miscellaneous materials which may be relevant to those interested in Hunt Genealogy

Some notes on the following. Jean Hunt Gaulden had in her possession two sets of papers. One set typed, 86 pages in total length, of which I have pp. 37- 86, (Hunt Paper 1) and another set of hand written papers 69 pages in total length (Hunt Paper 2). The first, typed paper, is the basis, it seems, for the second hand written paper and Both appear to be the basis of Jeans diagram of the family tree, and her handwritten papers. - M. Gaulden

Hunt Paper 1

No Author, Title or date is given for "Hunt Paper 1". It appears to be a rambling dialogue with it's author making notes to other people attempting to research the Hunt Line interjected into the main body of the paper. As the author makes discoveries, the author corrects earlier entries at the point the realization is made rather than going back to correct earlier conjectures. A numbering system is used to identify entries enabling the author to make those corrections or direct readers for reference without confusion.

309

"Check back to #127 thru 134 Charles Hunt #294 His wife was named Willie Hunt and has a son, Jesse Hunt who died aged 24 yrs. 11days"

p. 73

The Author also makes comments to the other researchers as he/she goes along.

329

"Mrs. Holmes, of all our trips and searches, this is the first time we have ever found in South Carolina your Hunt Family..."

p. 78

As to the date of "Hunt Paper 1", and the identity of it's author one specific date is given, and one allusion to identity:

330

"Sunday Sept. 17, 1950..After Mass (6:50) My family and I drove to Taylors, Greenville, Co., and spent the day with my niece Evelyn Roberts Hester and her husband Calvin Hester...After mid day dinner Calvin Hester (he has Hunt relatives) and I..."

p. 79

I have reviewed my Data and find Elizabeth Hester was married to John Wesley Hunt (John, Esli, Thomas, Hunt). I find no Evelyn Roberts Hester or Calvin Hester which would imply the author's nephew by marriage would have been related to the Hunt's through another line since he has Hester as his last name.

Pages 1 thru 37, if taken on the entries at the top of page 37, appear to be on a different line of Hunts - possibly Fairfield Connecticut area. This is conjecture on my part, but based on early Hunt settlers in the Fairfield Connecticut area, seemingly unrelated to our line in Virginia/South Carolina.

221

"...continued Heirs of James Hunt Sr. of Fairfield.."

p. 37
