There is speculation as to the origin of the Lord name and possible links to a Delaward who lived in England in the 14th century.  No specific information actually linking this William Lord to the Delaward family exists - mostly legend and hearsay.

 

The Lord name is spelled Lord and Lorde for this family in documents for Births, Christenings and Deaths in the Towcester, Northhampton, England register.

 

There is speculation that three different William Lords  or Lorde's with brother Richard who had sons named Richard and William resided in England in the mid 1500's.  It will be interesting to see what new information is fleshed out about this coincidence.
